Abstract

The aim of the articles is to present the results of research aimed at determining parameters of bicycle
motion currently occurring in practice, i.e. bicycle speed, duration and manner of executing the
manoeuvres of turning, U-turning and lane change, as well as attainable deceleration and acceleration
values. The studies were carried out using various types of bicycles, at various declared speeds, for
various age groups of cyclists. The results have been presented in three parts. In the first part the results
of research on the manoeuvres of braking and running up of bicycles have been presented together with
the results of measurements of cyclists’ actual speed in urban traffic conditions. The second part is
devoted to the kinematics of left turning, the third part to U-turning and lane change manoeuvres.
