Abstract

One of the objectives of Advance Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) is to reduce or eliminate driver
errors. The systems are focused mainly on the possibility of a driving intervention and the subsequent
avoidance of a possible collision. Standard ADAS systems on the market warn the driver visually or
acoustically after detecting a collision situation.

Therefore, pedestrians or cyclists are not warned, even
though their response to the warning by an oncoming vehicle could effectively prevent a traffic accident.
The paper provides a forensic view of real traffic accidents of pedestrians and their behaviour before the collision. The study of real pedestrian behaviour focuses on the possibility of implementing exterior
warning signals from the ADAS system.
